Unfortunately, unlike your message, I think the FAQ section is only in Chinese! So I've no idea what it was about! I wish there is an English version of it! (would you like to translate everything for me?)

Sincerely,

Ah, of course there is an English version of the lovely FAQ.

The hyperlink to this page is at the top left-hand corner of the Chinese version. :)

Enjoy!

I've checked the Chi FAQ. There is a link to the Eng ver which is located on the top

left hand corner.

Simply, click here.

Thank you very much! Now I recognized I clicked in to see the FAQ in English. Thankx anyway! (yes, 'gwai lo' do spell 'thankx' with a x purposely to make it fun!)

AD 7xxx

y k shum (ykshum@mit.edu) at Mon Nov 3 01:16, 1997 said:

I was watching some footage of recent HK-TVB news the other day,

and saw that the two bullet-proof Mercedes Benz(s) which were used

by Primier Li and Vice-primier Zhu have the registration plates

AD 7257 and AD 7256 respectively. They were first used by

two KMB Daimler (E & D), D351 and D350.

Can anyone tell me if AD 7xxx are now reserved plate for vehicles

related to the central government and the army, and any special reason?

y k

Article 8: (Request 1)

Most AD 7xxx license plates are reserved for the People Liberation Army troops' vehicles which arrived prior to the handover. All of the PLA vehicles arrived in Hong Kong AFTER the handover have ZG license prefix.

The AD 7xxx vechicles I've seen are Iveco vans.

For more information, you're more than welcomed to visit the PLA camps on Austion Road, Tsim Sha Tsui. Though I WON'T be responsible if you get shot!(This is a joke!) Though it's true you can find many PLA vehicles running in and out of that place very often, especially in the mornings! (perhaps they come out for breakfast!)

(oh no! do you think the PLA is picking up this message?)

J.W.

Article 8: (Request 2)

Not really, yk. I've seen some vehicles(of every sort: Mercedez, Toyota Hiace, BMW,

President) that carry 'AD' number plates. And they are likely of civilian possession

rather than of the PLA: some are driven by guys who really have a business fat-cat look;

while some are driven by Filipino drivers. But one thing is sure though: none of these

vehicles look cheap and old.

(For your information, 'AD' stands for Advance Detachment for the PLA

trucks. Those who registered after the handover are using the 'ZG' suffix. Hope I make it

correctly. :) )

Olympian or Dennis Dragon),
